Geoff Thatcher, Creative Director

geoffthatcher.jpgGeoff Thatcher is known by his peers for his infectious creativity and enthusiasm. While first and foremost a talented writer, Geoff is a "utility player" on the creative field. From client service to art direction, he not only knows how to take a project from concept to reality, but how best to pitch his team's ideas along the way. A certified trainer in leadership communications, he has facilitated workshops at Microsoft, John Deere and The CIA University.

His creative work for Carat can be seen in both real and virtual worlds, from the Honeywell Technology Experience in Washington, D.C. to online sites for Gateway and Microsoft Office Live Meeting. Geoff has also provided creative leadership for big 2005 events such as the Chevron North American Marketing Convention, P&G's Global Brand Building Awards and Sage Summit.

Geoff's writing experience ranges from speechwriting to blogging and everything in between. He has written concept, copy, scripts and video for consumer experiences including product launches, museums and theme parks. Before joining Carat, he helped edit, research and write The Leader's Voice and worked as creative consultant for the Tom Peters documentary Re-imagine! Business Excellence in a Disruptive Age that aired on PBS stations this past spring. The business guru called his work "brilliant" while the authors of The Leader's Voice described his "bluntness" as a "whetstone of refinement." With an educational background in journalism, his writing has also appeared in newspapers, magazines, and e-zines.

Before working as the creative director at the Tom Peters Company, Geoff spent seven years as a senior writer and producer at Jack Rouse Associates, a firm specializing in designing and producing theme parks, museums and corporate attractions. He worked on projects ranging from the Road Runner Express roller coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas to the CNN Studio Tour. He led the company's creative efforts on the Turner Broadcasting Entertainment Experience, Engenuity Technology Centre in Ironbridge, England, Battleship Missouri Memorial, The Ohio State University Athletics Hall of Fame, General MacArthur Memorial and many others. Tourists in Hawaii can see his work as they dive in an Atlantis Submarine off the coast of Oahu, cheeseheads celebrate among his concepts at Lambeau Field and deals are closed inside the Lucent Customer Showcase that he helped create.

Geoff is a 1993 graduate of Brigham Young University and got his start in experiential marketing working as a zookeeper, stuntman and train engineer at Lagoon Park, a regional amusement park outside of Salt Lake City.
